Hi all
I did a little birding this morning (April 2) in the New Glasgow-Caribou I-Lyons Brook area. Spring migration was evident with good numbers of Robins ~300 from Braeshore to Lyons Brook. There were over 100 Ring-billed Gulls, mostly in Lyons Brook. An immature Glaucous Gull remains at Pier C in Pictou- present for a couple of weeks now. A total of 19 Iceland Gulls were observed from 5 locations.
There were 2 imm Bonaparte's Gulls at North Nova seafoods near Caribou. Caribou and Pictou Harbours had over 500 Red-breasted Mergansers, somewhat fewer than past springs. Grackles, Red-winged Blackbirds and Song Sparrows were widespread.
Double-crested Cormorants numbered 32 this morning at the Pictou Causeway. First spring arrivals were a handful seen by Amber Vines Mar. 22.
Pussy willows were seen in a number of locations although there were flurries for quite a bit of the morning.
A few Crows were observed carrying nest material and eagles were seen on nests at Seaview Cemetery, Caribou I., Lyons Brook, Durham and Munroes I.

cheers
Ken
