Ken et al., I wonder if the abundance of eelgrass has changed, i.e.,
greatly reduced?, since apparently the introduced green crab can have
such an effect because of the way it forages, by digging around the
buried bases/roots of the plants. I am copying this to David Garbary
at St. F. X. Univ. for his thoughts on this. Here in Wolfville and
Grand Pre we used to regularly see small numbers of brant in spring
in salt-marshes but have not seen any for many years -- likely not
related to eelgrass or green crabs, though, because I don't remember
eelgrass being common here -- however, perhaps someone like David
might correct my memory re eelgrass?

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.
