We had a male Yellow-bellied Sapsucker today on our Norway Maple, which
suffered some storm damage this winter, and had to be pruned in the
middle of the winter. I've seen Chickadees drinking at the sawed-off
spot, so I guess the Sapsucker found it too. He moved up and down the
trunk of the tree, and even was looking on the ground beneath it for
insects I presume.

At the same time, under the same tree, a Fox Sparrow was scratching
away, but I haven't heard any songs for several days now. I think it
might be a female.

We still have a few Comm. Redpolls (6 today) coming to the hulled
sunflower seed feeder. Heard the Pileated Woodpecker this morning. Saw
a Siskin today, and have had a Brown Creeper quite a few times in the
past 2 weeks.
