Hi all
I had a call from Paul MacDonald from Roy I. this morning ( May 13) and he related seeing a bird he had not seen before flush from the road at Melmerby PP. This morning he saw it again. From his description, I suspected a Jaegar. I managed to slip dpwn to the Park at lunch today and caught a quick glimpse of the bird flying- one slightly out of focus photo
taken. My feeling is a Pomerine Jaegar in breeding garb. It flew off in the direction of Big I. I called Paul tonight and he did not see it when he passed through the Melmerby Bch. this evening.
This evening at my feeder in Plymouth, my first male Rose-breasted Grosbeak and a pair of Brown-headed Cowbirds. I was only seeing the male previous to this. A few birds must have arrived with this little window in the weather.
cheers
ken
