MAY 25, 2011 - This evening Brenda & Bill Thexton counted 66 total
chimney swifts at the Robie Tufts Nature Centre in Wolfville at
dusk. Observations were from 8:50 to 9:20 p.m. (Sunset 8:45). Clear
sky clouded over, temp. not measured but not cold. First swift
entered chimney at 8:55 and last one in at 9:17.

Please can someone check the Middleton Regional High School chimney
occasionally? We and the swifts need help there badly! There should
be a lot more swifts there than in Wolfville. MRHS is one block
north of Tim Horton's in west Middleton.

Note Sunset time in Herald or Internet, then to be safe get to the
site well before Sunset (by 8:30 p.m. if possible) and then be
prepared to stay there and alert for at least a half-hour. A second
pair of eyes and ears is also very helpful!

And talk to any other people there about the endangerment of these
unique and uncolourful birds! Google chimneyswifts.org and you will
find all kinds of great information on them and contacts etc.

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.
