Males & females are equally in evidence here in Port Mouton. I was watering
some of my plants in pots yesterday evening when a male hummer, with red
throat flashing and tail spread, hovered on the edge of the hose spray and
proceeded to have a shower. I kept the hose steady long enough until a pool
formed on the ground, when he went down and had a nice bath for a few
minutes, still under the shower from the hose. Of course, I had no camera
on hand! This is the second time I have experienced this in my 17 years
here.
