I did a shorebird survey today at Three Fathom Harbour. Dowitcher numbers have increased, with some of the hendersoni subspecies still present. Eastern Willets are beginning to migrate - adult females are collecting at staging areas. The only rarity was a Western Sandpiper, no sign of last Sunday's Ruff. Numbers seen around the harbour between mid-tide and low tide were:

Greater Yellowlegs 29
Willet 43 adults
Lesser Yellowlegs 16
Western Sandpiper 1
Least Sandpiper 3
Short-billed Dowitcher 370

Also heard from Shorebird Cove area: 1 each of Wilson's Warbler, Northern Parula, Common Yellowthroat & Yellow Warbler.

Cheers,
Susann Myers
