Pat and I took a run today to Annapolis Royal to the French Basin Trail=2C =
where my best bird was a gadwall. I'll send a detailed listing later. The=
re was also a turtle laying eggs on the trail=2C which I believe was a wood=
turtle=2C but I'll need to go online and check. It has been quite some ti=
me since I've seen one. There was red in front of the feet and on the lowe=
r section of the neck with yellow around the face. I took photos.

At Belleisle I tried only once for rails. I saw one Sora Rail. Pat spotte=
d a great blue heron and when I was trying to see it I noticed a bird flyin=
g over the water towards me and it passed right in front. My initial thoug=
hts were=2C what the heck is that? Then it dawned on me as to what it was.=
It flew close by and I was able to see the bill clearly to confirm my tho=
ughts. It was a yellow-billed cuckoo. The last bird that I expected to se=
e there. I guess it was just a mater of being in the right place at the ri=
ght time. The only ducks I saw there today at Belleisle Marsh were wood du=
cks. I saw tons along the French Basin Trail though. We also only visited=
the one marsh area at Belleisle. A pair of northern harriers were patrol=
ling. It was a nice day for a long distance outing.
