Stella's Pond (D.U. pond) at the west end of New Minas, on the connector rd
between Belcher St and Hwy 1, has dropped its water level quite dramatically
in the past few weeks and is now showing bare ground areas around the edge
of the pond and island. As a result ducks are now gathering in there to
feed which I first noticed on Wed. Friday there were 50+ ducks -
Mallards, Black Ducks, and a few Grn-w. Teal. At the far edge of the
pond there were at least 6 Sh-b. Dowitchers and a couple of smaller
shorebirds foraging on the exposed mud.

Cheers,

Judy Tufts
