Aug. 15, 2011 - Wolfville Harbour at high tide (2:30 to 3 p.m.): 16
greater yellowlegs, 2 willets, and 1 least sandpiper, all roosting
along the rocks below the railroad tracks at the south edge of the
harbour, and in the salt-marsh at the southeastern corner of the
harbour.

In the salt-marsh most of the conspicuous plants are in flower or
finishing flowering: coarse cord grass (Spartina alterniflora), fine
cord grass or salt hay (Spartina patens), Distichlis grass, sea
lavender (Limonium), and marsh elder or high-water shrub (Iva
frutescens?)(young fruits now and just a few flowers left). I didn't
notice whether salt-marsh goldenrod was flowering yet?

Also a couple of common wood nymph butterflies seen there.

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.
