Last night about 10, a Barred Owl was calling nearby. It was
not giving its full call, dropping the dramatic ending. There were no
answering calls. One hears them quite often thru the summer but I've
never understood what it's all about, considering its 6 months out of
breeding season.
whet owls and then I remembered that while at the cottage ( Lake Paul,
King's Co ) this weekend, the barrred owls were calling to each other
from across the lake. It is undeveloped on the other side except for an
oft used and well travelled logging road.
