I saw a distinctive bird silhouette yesterday as we were driving east on =
route 7. It seems pretty close to the pictures here, which is a =
peregrine. But this is highly unlikely, no? Could it have been a =
merlin? I noticed the sharp, hard-edged and angled wing shape.
By the way, there were ladies tresses near the south end of the trail =
from Clam Harbour beach. Not a very unusual sighting I know, but easy =
access and such a pleasant hike. I didn't have my book with me, so I'm =
not sure which sub-species, but probably cernua.
It was almost high tide, but we saw one greater yellowlegs.
Any opinions on the silhouette would be much appreciated.
Jane
