OCT. 11, 2011 - Yesterday I heard a singing white-throated sparrow in
our Wolfville yard (but none have appeared recently at our feeders,
just 4+ song sparrows), and I also heard a robin there yesterday.
Then this morning Pat saw a robin in our yard, but so far we have
only seen/heard a single robin.

OCT. 12, 2011 - The first dark-eyed junco of the Autumn showed up at
our feeders.

I checked on Wolfville Harbour 2 hours after high tide in mid-
afternoon: 2 unidentified yellowlegs (and possibly 2 more?), and 2
smaller unidentified shorebirds.

OCT. 13, 2011 - Today I saw 4 juvenile n. cardinals at once, perhaps
a single brood, at our feeders, without seeing any adults: there were
2 juvenile males, both quite reddish-orange, and 2 juvenile females,
all fully fledged and foraging on the ground on their own.

Also there was a single white-throated sparrow (see Oct. 11 above).

Other birds at the feeders included 3 mourning doves, a downy
woodpecker, 4+ blue jays, strangely no chickadees at all, 1 starling,
several song sparrows, a goldfinch, and (overnight) at least one
raccoon.

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.
