Also at our feeders, lately we have had just one cock pheasant, but today separately 3 females showed up too (not with the male). OCT. 20, 2011 - Sightings of cardinals continue at our feeders, at various times during the day and at dusk. This morning I saw an adult male, a juvenile male, and a juv. female, all at the same time but foraging separately. Also an adult female was seen. A single brightly-coloured white-throated sparrow was at the feeders (the one seen several days ago did not stay). Also 3 robins seen flying by our home in Wolfville. OCT. 21, 2011 - I checked a few ponds in early afternoon: Canard Pond held 3 female or immature n. shovelers, 3 mallards, 2 green-winged teals, and an adult bald eagle flew overhead; Gesner's Pond had a male/female pair of wood ducks; Stella's Pond had no birds at all; and Port Williams Sewage/Sewer Ponds had a single young? hooded merganser with a very small "hood" behind the head in the southern pond, which has the water level drawn down with mud on the edges, and the north pond had 7 mallards.
