Hi All=0AYesterday after lunch I went out and sat on a hardwood hill til da=
rk.=0AAs the slope of the hill faced north west, it was breezy but good clo=
thes=0Akept me warm. The breeze kept the black flies away and in the advent=
that=A0=0AI passed wind from the previous nights beer, it soon made the ef=
fects disappear. lol=0AAnyway after awhile I spotted some movements in the =
underbrush and I saw a male=0Apheasant. He wasn't poking around either. Run=
a piece, low to the ground=0Aand then stop and look around as if he was ne=
rvous and take off again. Soon he=0Awas out of sight.=0AA few minutes latte=
r, a second one appeared. This one was not discreet. Running about=0Ausing =
his wings to gain speed and looked like he was looking for something and in=
tended=0Ato pay it his respects when he found it. It was soon out of sight =
also.=0AAt sundown, a Sharp-shinned hawk flew in and lite on a branch about=
20 m in up wind from me.=0AIt was sort of brownish - almost fiery brown - =
but the light was difficult for me to see properly=0Athe colours. Anyway th=
e notch on its tail was plainly visible. Probably this years hatch bird.=0A=
It sat there for a few minutes and then took off almost over my head. Altho=
ugh I've seen many sharp-shins=0Athey always amaze me with their ability to=
dart among the trees. This one was no exception. Just like Syd!=0AOther bi=
rds include a raven high over head with its beautiful sounds and a few chic=
kadees.=0ANot a big afternoon for you birders - but they sorted of added re=
lish to all the other interesting stuff=0Athat was around. But then again I=
'm not a big birder! so its OK.=0AHave a nice fall=0APaul=0A
