We had some fun photographing a band on a Herring Gull near Pier C in Pictou. We were able to finally read all the numbers by photographing the gull after getting it to move around by throwing out some trail mix! It was banded in July 2006 in Witless Bay, NL and at the time was young and could not fly. Here are our highlights: Redpolls- Waterside PP a few heard fyling overhead Snow Buntings- 7 Waterside PP, 2 Pictou Lodge Bonapartes Gull: 350 Waterside PP, 60 Haliburton Gut and a few here and there elsewhere Red-throated Loon: 10 Waterside PP, 10 Caribou Lighthouse area Great Blue Heron: 1 Waterside PP Rough-legged Hawk: 1 Central Caribou dark phase Iceland Gull: 6 Pictou lodge, 2 Logan's Rd., 6 New Glasgow sewer Hooded Merganser: 100 Haliburton Gut and a few here and there elsewhere Purple Sandpiper:1 Sinclairs I. Great Cormorant:1 Pier C Pictou Sanderling: 2 Sinclairs I.
