This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --Boundary_(ID_+FZcmXXS+j18TOCpFz6obg) Content-type: text/plain; CHARSET=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT While we were out doing some errands yesterday in Halifax and Dartmouth, we had a chance to make a few stops for a side order of birding. At MacCormack's Beach, 5 species of gulls, including a first winter Glaucous. At Hartlens Point, only the Northern Harrier was seen on Devils Island. At De Said Lake, only Lesser Scaup were seen (63 of them). At Bissett Lake, from the parking lot, 23 A Coots, 3 Ruddy Ducks, 5 Common Mergansers and uncounted Scaup. A quick walk around the trails was quite unproductive! Behind the Cole Harbour Funeral Home, as it began to rain, dead quiet! We walked a bit further along towards the concrete pipes on the ground (to the right beside the stream) where Wendy heard a chickadee. In a bush with 2 BC Chickadees were several WT Sparrows, Song Sparrows, N Cardinal (male) and, my bird-of-the-day, a Common Yellowthroat! Overall, a rather quiet day but let's face it, even a bad day of birding is better than running errands and shopping!
