I had a fisherman leave a message about a killer whale sighting west of =
German Bank this morning (March 19) at 9 am. Unfortunately he didn't =
leave his name or phone number. The sighting was a lone male which is =
consistent with a number of sightings of a lone male for the last 5 =
years. Photographs from some of the sightings have been matched to the =
same whale.

The whale has been seen from Grand Manan (the latest sighting last =
November) to Brier Island to Roseway Basin, and sometimes accompanies =
dolphins. Obviously this whale lost his pod at some point and does not =
prey on dolphins. Killer whale diet is largely determined by family =
tradition passed down from generation to generation and can vary from =
herring to blue whales.
