Hi Stephen & All, Mar 21, 2012
No, not kidding e.g. see p. 210 in
http://books.google.ca/books?id=W5jcwx85EoEC&pg=PA212&lpg=PA212&dq=curry+adulterants&source=bl&ots=FKK4Q_Mdgw&sig=EQ0345uqdopinNxr9_C82h7nkvM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=2DxqT6vwIsrd0QHe8byFCQ&sqi=2&ved=0CDgQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=curry%20adulterants&f=false
But as so often is the case with internet searches I can't find my
Nov/Dec source that had a long list of spice adulterants.

Another source that I just found is
http://blog.jagojanta.org/post/2010/06/10/Spices-Adulteration.aspx
but again not nearly as good as the one I found in Nov/Dec.
 Bon appetit, DW
