I came across- almost stepped on!- a red bellied snake on the Causeway i=
n Windsor yesterday=2E

As I came upon it=2C I thought =22Jeesh=2C that=27s the largest night cr=
awler I=27ve EVER seen=22=2E Then it registered that a) it wasn=27t nigh=
t=2C ) it hadn=27t=A0 rained=2C and c) it was a snake=2E

I used a stick to gently coax her off the middle of the paved walkway ( =
so that the next runner wouldn=27t step on her ) and that=27s when I saw=
 how red the belly was=2E The topside was a coppery brown with no checke=
rboard pattern of the garter snake=2E
