He also has 2 pairs of cardinals. Today at home I heard a strange new bird song twice but couldn't find the singer -- no idea what it could have been, and I cannot describe what I heard. Two days ago at home I heard a probable pileated woodpecker again (a "flicker that didn't sound right". APRIL 5, 2012 - At our feeders a blue jay was feeding seeds to another blue jay, a case of probable courtship feeding. No other blue jays were with this pair. Canning Aboiteau: 350+ Canada geese were a bit downstream (east) from the aboiteau at high tide in early afternoon. A single pair of Canada geese was at Van Nostrand's D.U.C. pond, along with a m,f pair of ring-necked ducks. Wellington Dyke at high tide: 3 drake red-breasted mergansers.
