Today we had a calling male Red-bellied Woodpecker around all day at the
feeders and in the woods behind the house. This is a welcome addition
to the female which has been with us all winter. The call is very
distinctive and loud, and I'm sure the female heard it, though we did
not see them together. Perhaps we'll have a nesting pair nearby!

Yesterday we saw our first Osprey from our yard. Today we saw another
one in Fall River.

Our three B. Orioles continue to come to the feeder for mealworms, grape
jelly with suet, and grapes. The male is becoming quite territorial and
is chasing the other two away from the feeding cage. My husband
recently put a plywood divider in the cage in hopes of allowing the
others to get in without the male seeing them. So far we don't think it
is working.
