Received a message today from a contact on the Nova Scotia Bird Society Facebook network, from Truro, who asked if I could direct her to where the Common Gallinule was here in Dartmouth. As it was, I was able to meet her, and we went to Red Bridge Pond where we searched, but without much luck. However, luckily, Bernard Burke happened by, and he found it before he had to leave. This lady was able to get some photos of this elusive bird.
She also mentioned that she had heard there were Northern Cardinals here & I told her there was at least one in my neighbourhood. We heard the Cardinal calling in the green belt behind my backyard & with the generous help, of lots of my other neighbours, here on Glenwood Ave., we were delighted to see 2 male and 1 female Northern Cardinals!
