couple of hours that we never saw and wanted to before the black=0Aflies g=
et friendly. On the way we saw an owl in a maple tree by the road.=0Anot su=
re if a horned or barred. IDing owls as you drive down a winding=0Aroad can=
be dangerous. Latter a coyote ran across the road in front of us.=0AIt was=
n't wasting time.=0AWe ended up at a river with a fun place to launch a can=
oe.=A0=0AWhen we got the canoe in the river, we saw large schools of minnow=
s.=0AThey were about 5 cm long but we didn't catch any for closer examinati=
on.=0AA Great Blue Heron knew about them and was standing in a little cove =
just after=0Awe put in. A Kingfisher rattled by and a drake common merganse=
r. They all=0Aknew where lunch was served.=0AWhen we got back for lunch, a =
couple of Azure Butterflies were there to welcome=0Aus. First I had seen th=
is year. Latter as I was sitting by the river a Red Admiral came=0Aby and l=
anded on the stones by the water. Great view as the sun was bright at the t=
ime.=0AIt appeared to be sipping something =A0from the moss on the stones. =
It tried a few more=0Astone and then moved on.=0AThe stoneflies were not as=
plentiful as previously - most may have all hatched for this year.=0AThere=
was lots of caddis cases on some of the rock and a few small mayflies. A l=
arge=0Atadpole was on a rock - I don't know if they would eat caddis cases =
or not.=0AA delightful day =A0- not a computer in sight - Enjoy the spring=
