Hi all
In a bit of a hike in the Irish Mtn. area of Pictou Co. this morning =
(Apr 25), I heard a Blue-headed Vireo singing. A Fox Sparrow I heard =
singing last week is still singing form the same locale- maybe it is a =
breeding area- there were only a couple of squares reporting this bird =
in the MBBA (Maritime Breeding Bird Atlas).=20
Spring Beauties have been in bloom since Apr 21. I think there were =
white violets in bloom up there as well.=20
Bloodroot has been in full bloom since Apr 17 in various Pictou Co. =
locales.=20
An Eastern Phoebe nest has one egg at MacLellans Brook and 3-4 bridges =
there have Phoebes around them for a while now.=20

There was a Greater Yellowlegs along the East R. at Blue Acres Apr 22 =
and I had a singing Chipping Sparrow at Brookville Apr. 22. It was =
singing from the same yard this morning.=20

The following are common in breeding areas now, Flicker, Sapsuckers, =
White-throat, Savannah and Swamp Sparrows, Hermit Thrushes, Palm and =
Myrtle Warblers, Ruby-crowned Kinglets, PB Grebes ( reported from Grants =
L., ponds in the old Drummond mine site in Westville, Willard Fraser =
beaver dam, Churchville beaver dam.=20

Send a few of those colourful rarities our way please!

cheers
ken
