Green herons would be there at any time as long as it is not scared away (or spooked). I would suggest you go now and see if it is there. The sooner the better. Look for a smallish, green/ dark-looking heron. It tends to hunch down and look for a fish to snap up. While not in the water, it would perch on a branch.
