The biggest drawback is if you meet at New Home and have to leave cars at Methals its about a 45-minute drive EACH way. If you can leave a car at the take out point on the way you will save a lot of time. There may be a problem with road access on that end; others may know better. The trip itself is wonderful, especially on the canal where the current takes you along.
