Thanks.  Do birds dislike them because of fine silk threads getting in their 
way?  Maybe a hard question?   That is what I have been wondering about...

Often they are inchworms or measuring worms of various kinds (family
Geometridae or others)(very diverse), but I'm sure there are many
other kinds that likewise hang from single threads of secreted silk.
