[NatureNS] "I'm no longer surprised but I'm increasingly angry

As Richard and others have indicated, people are beginning to stir.  And I,
too, have been driven to become more engaged in what is happening
politically in this country.  While I am concerned what the Harper
Government is doing to the environment, the science and cultural
communities, our international reputation, our legal system, etc, I am more
distressed by how he is doing it: subverting democracy, ignoring facts,
controlling media, muzzling his ministers and the bureaucracy.

I know this is a Nature forum, but as nature is being impacted severely by
the practices of this government, I encourage NatureNS subscribers to read,
study, investigate, discuss, and decide for yourselves if our country is
headed in a good or a bad direction, especially with respect to the
environment.

I recommend the following web sites:

I read more papers on-line -- the Chronicle Herald, the Globe and Mail, the
Toronto Star, BBC news service, the Guardian, and more.

And I read the columns and op-ed videos of Rick Salutin at the Toronto Star.

And I even (shudder!) use Facebook.

I am scared regarding how our country is changing, and I am trying to
become more informed and involved.  For the sake of our natural world and
our society, I urge you to do the same.
