I want to add that the turtle was indeed digging a nest and I was able to see & photograph her laying her eggs!

My neighbours who have youngsters brought them down to see this event. They were mesmerized by the whole thing and nobody interfered with the turtle and we all kept a respectful distance.

It has since covered up the nest.

Question, should DNR be notified or should we in any way try to protect the sight? There was a muskrat swimming around the whole time. Would a muskrat destroy a nest? Would anything destroy Snapping Turtle nests? Thanks!

Sincerely,

Gayle MacLean
