Hi All=0AYesterday a friend and I canoed a headpond between two dams.=A0=0A=
The upper dam took care of the surges in river level and the bottom=0Adam k=
ept the water level steady. An not too common thing in NS.=0AAs we paddled =
into a flooded cove full of little islands, stumps and logs=0Aand lots of s=
tuff - looked like a fine place for a fish. I was paying=0Amore attention t=
o where there was floatable water than the islands.=0AAll of a sudden, a Lo=
on burst from its nest only a canoe length or so away.=0AShe/He was so clos=
e that it splashed water on us. There was 2 eggs in the nest=0A- must have =
been near hatching for the parent to sit so close.=0AThe nest was on a litt=
le island, perhaps 3 m in diameter. and low to the water.=0AThe nest was bu=
ilt up of moss and as it was higher than most nests I've seen=0Alooked as i=
t had been used previous years.=0AAnyway we thought with a fine angler livi=
ng in the cove, fishing might not be good=0Aso we moved on.=0AEnjoy the spr=
ing=0APaul
