Hi all
Here are the results of the second "fall" Swiftwatch from Temperance St. =
school in New Glasgow.=20
It was a darkish evening with showers after 6 which taped off and =
stopped when I reached the school. I went to the site a bit earlier =
thinking that the birds might go in early. When I arrived at 8:14, I =
could hear swifts twittering overhead. Most of the summer, the birds =
have not been close to the chimney till shortly before they retired for =
the night. It was 19C, calm and 100 % overcast. A single bird appeared =
to fly out of the chimney at 8:29 and about that time a light shower =
started. Swifts continued to fly around the chimney and 2 entered at =
8:35. No more entered till 8:49 when 93 went in. After this, there were =
a few single bird entries with one going out and then back in at 8:55 =
and 8:56. Last bird in was 8:57 for a total of 98. I left the site at =
9:05.=20
Note the numbers for this summer are well off last year when there were =
about 230 swifts.=20
cheers
Ken
