hi folks,

Lots of activity at about 1 pm today at Miner's Marsh (Kentville, behind
the courthouse):

- a/the *Great Egret* was observed foraging and flying between 3 different
locations (northwest, southwest and central parts of the marsh); all
relatively out in the open. Some great views through the scope.

- three juvenile *Great Blue Herons* mainly in the northwest near the Great
Egret.

-"the dead tree on the island" (regular visitors might be familiar with
this one; on a small mound in the northwest corner of the marsh) hosted the
most activity. There was competition for perches on the tree between
the *Belted
Kingfisher* pair, and two adult and at least 3 juvenile, *Eastern Kingbirds.
* Below was a *Wilson's Snipe* foraging at the water's edge.

cheers,
James.
