However the moon will go into its Full Phase next Friday night August 31 meaning we will see it all night and can expect higher high tides and lower low tides. This is the time of year when the *Big Dipper*, swinging down in the northwest in evening, catches water dumping from the bowl of the dim *Littl= e Dipper* high above it. This week, right after dark is the time when the Big Dipper descends to the same height in the northwest as *Cassiopeia *rises in the northeast. As twilight fades, spot the bright star *Arcturus *high in the west. On Saturday, August 25, the *Sun *will rise at 6:37 a.m. and set at 8:12 p.m. On Saturday, September 1, the sun will rise at 6;45 a.m. and set at 8:00 p.m. * This Week's Planet Roundup * *Mercury *(about magnitude -1.2) remains in view at dawn but lower each day. It's above the east-northeast horizon, far lower left of brilliant Venus. Look about 45 minutes before sunrise, the earlier in the week the better. *Venus *(magnitude -4.3) rises in deep darkness around 4 a.m., emerging above the east-northeast horizon like a UFO a good two hours before the first glimmer of dawn. By dawn it's blazing high in the east. *Mars*, *Saturn*, and the star *Spica *(similar at magnitudes 1.2, 0.8, and 1.0 respectively) form a lengthening triangle low in the west-southwest at dusk. Mars is pulling away to the left of the other two. Look for them far lower left of *Arcturus*. *Jupiter *(magnitude -2.3) rises in the east-northeast around 1 a.m. By dawn Jupiter shines very high in the southeast, about 35=B0 upper right of even brighter Venus.
