Hi all
Rick Ferguson and I birded Big I. yesterday morning (Aug 29). The tide =
was high most of the time we were there and the wind was brisk from the =
NW with a few white caps so difficult to see all that was on the Strait =
side. In the 14 species of shorebird we had 2 flying Golden Plover. The =
shorebird list is below. No doubt, more shorebirds would have been =
tallied with a lower tide.=20

Our Bonaparte's Gull count was 455 incl. 6-7 juveniles. Passerines were =
not plentiful with only 4 warbler species. Our tally was a lowish 55 =
species. We noted a few butterflies including a rather fresh Least =
Skipper. Thanks to Jim Edsall with ID help. I don't think I had this =
butterfly for my atlassing on Big I. before this.

Black-bellied Plover 7
American Golden-Plover 2
Semipalmated Plover 43
Greater Yellowlegs 4
Willet 6
Lesser Yellowlegs 5
Whimbrel 1
Ruddy Turnstone 1
Red Knot 3
Sanderling 15
Semipalmated Sandpiper 81
Least Sandpiper 7
Short-billed Dowitcher 9
Wilson's Snipe 1

cheers
Ken
