There was heavy migration during the Labour Day weekend, especially on
Saturday and Sunday nights when nearly 500 night flight calls were recorded
each night. The rest of the week however was very quiet. Nonetheless this
week had the highest number of flight calls so far this autumn with a total
1,173. While the number of warblers is still 2 to 3 times the numbers of
sparrows or thrushes, the two most common flight calls this week were not
warblers. These were Savannah Sparrow with 187 flight calls and Swainson's
Thrush with 139 calls recorded. The most common warbler was again the Common
Yellowthroat with 115 night flight calls. No rare or unusual birds were
detected this week. The summary for the week beginning the evening of August
31 and ending the morning of September 6 is as follows:
