Hi All=0AAs I suspect the lovely warm weather will disappear before spring,=
=0AI decided I should put my wood under cover before the snows of winter.=
=0AMy woodpile is near a brook and the wood had dried nicely with a few=A0=
=0Adamp spots near the bottom. Nothing serious but every damp spot has=0Aa =
salamander or two hiding in it. Never saw so many. Not sure which species=
=0Athey make a getaway as soon as their roof is taken away.=0AA Garter Snak=
e is lurking around the pile also. Perhaps it like fresh salamander!=0AThe =
brook was on its bones for a week or so - just a few pools but is back flow=
ing again.=0AThere seems to be a few Brook Trout scurrying around so they m=
ust have survived=0Ain the deeper pools under the alders.=0AThis afternoon =
I saw some Caddis Flies on the wood. Anglers would call them=0AYellow Sally=
s. Quite large for Nova Scotia Caddis - size 12 about - the body is=A0=0Aa =
light greenish yellow or is it a light yellowish green? Persumably the fres=
h water=0Aas little as it was caused them to hatch. Thiry years ago the str=
eam bank=0Awas clear - mowed right to the water but in the meantime the nat=
ural vegetation=0Ahas been allowed to grow. Red Maples, Alders and so on. S=
eems to have a very positive=0Ainfluence on the water flies.=0AEnjoy the en=
d of the summer=0APaul
