There is an exact match for Calligrapha alnicola Brown - on Alnus (alder). =
When compared to my photo the markings on the back are identical. If it i=
s of any use I have GPS NAD 83 cordinates as to where it was found. Let me=
know if you would like to have them. All the best and very much appreciat=

Calligrapha (in the family Chrysomelidae) is a complicated and species-rich=
genus of leaf beetles (they are not lady beetles which are members of anot=
her family=2C the Coccinellidae). Thirteen species have been recorded in th=
e Maritime Provinces. I have a key to the species found in the region as we=

Note: it may or may not be possible to identify your specimen from a photo =
since one of the more important characters used in identifying the species =
is the coloration of the elytral epipleurae=2C which are typically not visi=
ble in a dorsal-view photograph of a specimen.
Good luck with it!
