For most of human history, =20 the existence of other planets was either a speculation, or a =20 hypothetical reality but with no way to prove they existed. The last =20 15 years have seen incredible advances that now allow several methods =20= for the detection of planets around other stars. This talk will =20 explain some of these methods, the results, and show how you can keep =20= track of the 700+ planets discovered so far. And yes, "There's an app =20= for that"!. Patrick Kelly has a background in astronomy and computer science. He =20 is the Director of Faculty Computing at the Faculty of Architecture =20 and Planning at Dalhousie University, where he teaches a graduate =20 course in archaeoastronomy and architecture. He teaches first-year =20 astronomy at Dalhousie and is a past editor of the Observer=92s Handbook = =20 of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.
