SEPT. 14, 2012 - This afternoon Erin Hennessy & Jane Mangle et al.
spotted a very strange bird in a tree in residential Wolfville along
lower Gaspereau Ave. Erin sent a couple of good photos and wondered
if it was an immature night heron? Indeed it was an immature YELLOW-
CROWNED NIGHT HERON, confirmed via the photos by Ian McLaren. The
sighting was in the back yard of Andy Nette's/Erin Hennessy's Dental
Clinic (blue second house? up from Main St. on the east side of
Gaspereau Ave.).

I told Erin that back on the evening of Aug. 23/12, Richard Stern
found and photographed an immature YCNH in Wolfville Harbour, which
is only about a long block south of Erin's sighting. But there have
been no more sightings since Aug. 23.

Perhaps we should be visiting Wolfville Harbour at late dusk or in
very early morning to see if we have a regular YCNH there?

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.
