Hi all:

A hard day for finding birds. Warblers few. I had a barred owl along the Dynamite Trail in Clearland, that was being harrassed by American Crows. I saw three hermit thrushes there as well of which one was a juvenile. There was also a gray catbird there.

At Mader's Cove 52 common mergansers were a surprise, but not unexpected for this time of year.

At Second Peninsula, 6 common terns were still present. Two of the adults were still feeding young ones. I tried to make the one adult and juvenile into another species, but was unable to convince myself. The bill of the adult was just really worn.

Also at Second Peninsula on the Rhodenizer Farm at the end there were 25 Savannah Sparrows. There likely were a lot more, but it was hard to count them as they were flying in all directions. Grass had just been cut on one of the fields and there was a buff-breasted sandpiper tending there.
