Jeannie, I agree with Ulli that it's an Argiope spider, but without  
the dorsal view of the top of the abdomen, I think it could also be  
Argiope trifasciata, the banded argiope (the species suggested by  
Ulli is the black-and-yellow argiope, which I think would look  
different in this view.  Just my 2 cents, as Ulli says.  Cheers from
