--Apple-Mail-15-321986205 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed SEPT. 18, 2012 - Yesterday evening at the BNS meeting we learned that Wayne Neily saw a MARBLED GODWIT back in Wolfville Harbour at about 7:15 p.m. Today Richard Stern wrote at 12:20 p.m.: "Right now the tide is rapidly filling up Wolfville Harbor, the sun isshining, and the [Marbled] Godwit is feeding in front of me together with some Greatet Yellowlegs." Then, right after Richard left, about two hours before high tide, with the water level already high, I located the marbled godwit again in pre-roosting mode with about 20 greater yellowlegs, along the RR tracks on the se. shore. Also seen in the harbour were 20 peeps, many of which were least sandpipers, and, separately, a spotted sandpiper. Yesterday it was a northern harrier that flew over the harbour and flushed the shorebirds; today it was a large sharp-shinned hawk. Elderkin's Pond: one juvenile double-crested cormorant, plus the usual dozens of mallards. In the grass near the bus-stop at the Acadia Arena, 2 small Calvatia? giant puffballs (less than fist-sized).
