Hi all
Charlie Kendell and I spent the afternoon at Big I. Monday Oct. 1, and =
recorded some birds of interest. At the east end of the causeway there =
was an adult and a young CASPIAN TERN. These birds made a couple of =
passes in the area and then continued on to the east in the direction of =
Camp Geddie. After examining number of sparrows in that corner incl 2 =
Nelson's Sparrows and as we returned to the vehicle, a Yellow-billed =
Cuckoo was observed in flight ( large rufous wing patches noted as it =
landed in alders behind a large private residence).=20
Single first winter White-crowned Sparrows were found in 2 locations on =
the island, one with a group of sparrows by the MacLean ( Clarke) farm =
barn. There was also an Eastern Phoebe on the roof of this barn.=20
A walk to the back shore revealed 2 other flycatchers, both photographed =
which appear to be Yellow-bellied Flycatcher and Eastern Wood Peewee. =
When I get a chance, I will send these photos off for confirmation. =
Neither bird made any sound to help with ID.=20

cheers
Ken
