Last night (October 4-5) was the biggest night of the season for nocturnal
migration over Antigonish County with 1,000 more flight calls than any other
previous night. There were over 2,500 calls in total. The dominant species
were Savannah Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, Swamp Sparrow, Yellow-rumped
Warbler, and Blackpoll Warbler. There were still numbers of Common
Yellowthroats and a few Palm Warblers. A careful analysis will no doubt turn
up more species.
