At this date, there is not a great deal available to separate the
juveniles of these 2 species. In Kings Co. I generally only see a
single AMGP in a flock of BBPL. Today I found one bird in with 62 BBPL
just N of Horton Landing, at high tide. In the photo you can see that
the bill is smaller (the BBPL bill is very robust), there is some
light barring on the flank and the bird is a bit slimmer. I did get to
see the light brown underwing also. I now have 4 AMGP in photos with
BBPL at different times of the year, May 20 to today, in my Shorebird
gallery. The direct link is to today's bird.
