(2 of latter had normal hood or crest behind head, other 2 younger?), a m/f pair of mallards. Canard Pond: 1 m. gadwall, 1 unidentified brown surface-feeding duck (yg. gadwall?, tipping-up), 4 male n. pintails getting their breeding plumage back, only 1 Am. wigeon (f/imm) noticed, about 20 green- winged teals, perhaps 40 Am.black ducks, a few mallards. Saxon St. Pond: 8 hooded mergansers (2 ad. males, 6 f/imm) about 20 mallards, a few black ducks. In a large field, newly & currently plowed, along Middle Dyke Road, a large flock of herring gulls included at least two lesser black- backed gulls (subadults). At Blueberry Acres, lovely red fall colours on the highbush blueberry bushes.
