A big Norway rat has appeared in the burrow system below my feeders in our back yard (shared with the chipmunk, who might now be hibernating?). OCT. 29, 2012 - At my feeders, the eastern chipmunk is still active, and, happily, I have not seen the Norway rat since that first sighting. And robins still present in our yard. OCT. 29, 2012 - At suppertime in east Wolfville, Bob Thexton showed me a cock pheasant that was roosting (presumably for the night) about halfway up in a large black walnut tree on a now-bare branch well out from the trunk, in a residential back yard.
