Hi Dusan=0AGrowing up on Panmure Island, PEI, a neighbour had a wind break=
=0Aof Silver Maple. They were large trees when I first remember so probably=
=0Adated from 1900 as a guess. Although I don't often visit there any more=
=0Athe last I remember they had spread somewhat and had established sort of=
 a grove.=0ACertainly hardy enough. The owner was quite proud of them. They=
 would be far=0Abeyond their most easterly distribution. They suckered quit=
e readily as I remember=0Abut the farmers cows took care of that - now the =
cows are gone the silver maple thrive.=0AIn the old days according to local=
 tradition a nurseryman from the Annapolis Valley=A0=0Aused to come by hors=
e and wagon with a load of various trees - not much more than=A0=0Arooted c=
utting I guess and he would travel around PEI selling them as he could.=0AC=
aroline poplar, silver maple can still be spotted at old farm houses - tree=
s that=0Acame of his wagon. Don't know who the fellow was.=0AOne story was =
he sold a supply of apple trees to a farmer who planted and cared for=0Athe=
m. All the best varities or so he said. After 10 years or so they produced =
fruit but=0Athey were all crabapples. The trees were still producing crabap=
ples when I remember!=0AInteresting things trees=A0=0AHave a nice fall=0APa=
