Somewhere in my neighbourhood there is a hollow tree stuffed with black oil sunflower seeds.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Of passing interest are semi regular Evening Grosbeaks, which have been rare in these parts last few years.  A regular pair of Northern Cardinals with occasional juvenile; White Throated Sparrows; Song Sparrows; Black Capped Chickadees; a White B

I have a similar problem here and a suet cake lasts only a day or so.  If
I'm not out working in the yard, my feeder will be emptied in a matter of
hours.  Can't blame them too much as it is their instinct to hoard and I
take some consolation that many other birds and animals probably dine on the
hidden caches!  As Paul says, it also helps to distribute seeds and
contribute to forestry regeneration.  Wish I had room for a few of those
chestnut seedlings, Paul!
